Back in the day....the band first began practicing after hours in Eric's office in downtown Louisa. It didn't take too long before we were asked to relocate - we assumed it had something to do with the volume of our music and the late working professionals who may have been distracted by our festive tunes. We soon found ourselves homeless and orphaned.
But, lucky for us - Butch came to our rescue and allowed us to move our gear into one of the houses he was remodelng. It was perfect! Remotely located, we could play until our ears rang (and we did) without bothering the neighbors. And a bonus - the old farm house came with it's own pet, a black cat who quickly became the band's mascot. Fully equipped with a wood stove, a working refrigerator, bathroom and most of the comforts of home - we quickly adapted to our new environment and settled in for a winter's worth of practices. Unfortunately, the house was not air conditioned....and as winter turned into spring, we discovered there were not enough fans to go around to keep us from overheating while we played. But it was fun while it lasted, and we will always be grateful for Butch's generosity. Long live the Hell House! |
